Walter Cox

Walter Cox, 76, of McCool, Mississippi, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Mississippi State Veterans Home in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Services will be at a later date.

Walter was born September 18, 1948, in Winona, Mississippi, to Wesley Cox and Bootsie Boatman Cox. Walter Cox served in the United States Navy during Vietnam, where he served as a Boatswain’s Mate. He later spent his career working at Ingall’s Shipyard in Pascagoula, Mississippi, as a planner.

Walter is survived by his wife, Linda Cox of McCool, Mississippi; son, Matthew Cox of McCool, Mississippi; daughters, Laura Moore of Sallis, Mississippi, and Lytha Naasko of Winterhaven, Florida; grandchildren, Alexander Myers, Alyssa Myers and Cecelia Cox; great-grandson, Keegan Mabry; great-granddaughter, Emeri-Rose Parr; sister, Mae Helen Cox of Weir, Mississippi.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley Cox and Bootsie Boatman Cox; daughter, Tammy Lynn Cox; brothers, Billy Cox, Benny Ray Cox,  and Wayne Cox;  infant brothers, Charles Cox and Thomas Cox; sister, Mary Kathryn Threadgill.
