Wade Purvis, 74, of Ethel, Mississippi passed away Sunday, August 25, 2024, at the G.V. Sonny Montgomery V.A. Center in Jackson. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Tabernacle United Methodist Church. Graveside services with military honors will follow at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Tabernacle Cemetery near Ethel. Rev. Glenn Jackson will officiate the services.
Wade was born on April 1, 1950, to William David “Bill” Purvis and Lanie Rone Purvis in Natchez, Mississippi. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. Wade was a carpenter and of the Baptist Faith.
Wade is survived by his daughter, Alisha (Tommy) Wilson of Petal, Mississippi; grandchildren, Kayla (Michael) Collier, Courtney Wilson, and Landen Wilson; great-grandchildren, Westin Collier, Caysin Collier, McKenleigh Walters, Eliana Ladnier and Ember Lee; sisters, Wanda (Glenn) Jackson of Ethel, Mississippi, and Frances (Michael) Voss of Purvis, Mississippi; aunt, Frances Lester; host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his beloved dog Lady.
Wade was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sylvia Purvis.
