Eleanor Ruth Steen Stewart, 86, of Kosciusko, Mississippi, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2026, at her residence with her family by her side. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Parkway Cemetery. Rev. Jamie Moore will officiate the service.
Ruth was born on May 30, 1939, to Elmer Steen and Josie Evon Sanders Steen in Kosciusko, Mississippi. She married the love of her life, Dudley Stewart, whereas they shared 67 beautiful years together. She devoted her life to caring for her family. She was a member of Williamsville Baptist Church.
Ruth is survived by her loving husband, Dudley Stewart of Kosciusko, Mississippi; sister, Margie Moore of Kosciusko, Mississippi; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer Steen and Josie Evon Sanders Steen, brothers Denton Steen, Randolph Steen, and Charles Steen, sisters, Bonnie Cameron, Mozelle Calloway, and Jane Howard, and 2 brothers that passed away as infants.
Affectionately known as “Aunt Ruthie” to dozens of nieces and nephews (and most everyone that knew her), she loved her family and friends unconditionally. She always greeted you with a hug and a kiss, usually leaving a large lipstick print on your cheek. She loved swinging in her porch swing, especially when family was swimming in the pool. Because she made everyone feel like the favorite, she will be greatly missed.
