Rachel Brett Matthews

Rachel Brett Matthews, 92, of Pearl, Mississippi formerly of Kosciusko, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2025, at her residence. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 26, 2025, at Jordan Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Kosciusko City Cemetery. Her nephew Bracky Brett will officiate the services.

Rachel was born February 18, 1933, to Homer Brett and Etta Galloway in Attala County, Mississippi. She was a member of McLaurin Heights Baptist Church. Rachel was an accounting clerk for 15 years with Mississippi State Hospital.

Rachel is survived by her son, Michael Matthews and his wife Rocio Matthews, of Pearl, Mississippi; grandson, Daniel Byrd; and great-granddaughter, Loralei Byrd.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer Brett and Etta Galloway Brett, sisters, Mildred Bailey, Wilma Bickis, and Thelma Anderson, and brothers, John Haywood Brett and Albert Hoss Brett, husband Joe Matthews, and daughter Brenda Byrd.
