Michael "Mike" Ellington

Michael “Mike” Ellington, 76, of Thomastown, Mississippi, passed away February 1, 2026, at his residence. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Thomastown Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Thomastown Baptist Church with burial at Thomastown Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Waygon Sanders and Rev. Greg Fortenberry will officiate the services.

Mike was born on January 5, 1950, to Allie Ellington and Nola Odom in Mississippi. He was a member of Thomastown Baptist Church. Mike loved farming and his cattle, and in his spare time he loved to go to Lena, Mississippi to visit with friends. Mike, a devoted farmer, loving family man, and generous friend to all, passed away peacefully surrounded by those he loved most at home. Born with a deep respect for the land, Mike, spent most of his life farming, believing that honest work, patience, and care for God’s land were among life’s greatest lessons. Mike took pride in providing for his family. Mike cherished his family. He was a devoted husband and father. He was endlessly proud of those he loved. Mike never hesitated to lend a hand. His generosity was given freely and without expectation. He believed in helping neighbors and doing what was right. Mike’s son Chris was his pride and joy. It was a relationship he treasured daily. Mike was a man that stayed true to who he was. Mike leaves behind a legacy of love and service that will continue to grow in the hearts of those who knew him-much like the land and cattle he tended to so faithfully. He will be deeply missed and Forever remembered.

Mike is survived by his wife, Vickie Shelley Ellington; son, Chris (Laura) Ellington of Lena, Mississippi; brothers, Jack (Janice) Ellington of Bentonville, Arkansas and Anthony “Cotten” (Lisa) Ellington of Thomastown, Mississippi; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Allie Ellington and Nola Odom, sister, Shirley Williams, brothers, Charles Ellington, Bob Ellington, Royce Ellington, and John Larry Ellington.

Serving as pallbearers are Jacob Shelley, Mitch Lee, Channing Goodman, Dusty Shannon, Stacy Sessums, Chad Dodd, Mitch Johnston, and Brandon Watkins. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Mike Sherman, Ralph Simmons, and Morris Massey.
