Michael Olyn Cook was fatally injured in a traffic accident on October 16, 2025, in Oktibbeha County. Mike was born the second to Arthur Milton Cook and Josephine Fulcher Cook on March 16, 1965, in Jackson, Mississippi. Mike grew up in Kosciusko, enjoying his family and friends. He was a graduate of Kosciusko High School and was proud to be a Whippet. Mike received his undergraduate degree in Engineering/Land Survey from Mississippi State University. He also obtained a Master’s degree in Engineering from the University of Florida and an MBA from Belhaven University. Mike was a licensed engineer/surveyor in many states. He loved pushing himself to continue learning in his field of expertise. He was employed with EMC in Grenada, where he made lifelong friends. Mike’s two loves were his nephews, Max and Will. He was their lead cheerleader. Known as “Uncle Mike” to the families at baseball and football games, graduations, and functions great or small. Mike enjoyed his standing invitation for Saturday night gatherings at his brother’s house. Mike was also an avid motorsport enthusiast. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle on the Attala County back roads, where he had worked on the survey crew for State Aid Projects growing up.

Mike is survived by his brother, Arthur Leon (Jennie) Cook of Kosciusko; nephews, Arthur Maxwell Cook of Orlando, Florida, and William Bishop Cook of Jackson; an aunt, Julia Fulcher Taylor of Kosciusko; and an uncle, Wade Cook of Spring Hill, Kansas; cousins, Loni Burson, Nic (Tracy) Cook, Joyce Olson, Carlene Fulcher-Eaves, Todd (Brenda) Fulcher, Chasidy (Stan) Hathorn, and Scott (Mary) White.

 He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Milton Cook and Josephine Fulcher Cook.

 The family will have a private committal service; however, they will receive Mike’s friends for a gathering from 3-5 on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Jefferson Street Social Blue Room.

 In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Children’s of Mississippi, University of Mississippi Medical Center, or the donor’s choice.
