Lewis Quinby Morgan, Sr.

Mr. Lewis Quinby Morgan, Sr., 83, of Starkville, Mississippi, passed away, Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Choctaw Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Holmes Community College Chapel in Goodman, Mississippi. Rev. Gene Richardson, Joe Lynn Gant, Randy Martin, and Doug Fowler will officiate the service.

Quinby was born on August 17, 1942, to his parents, Starkey Collins Morgan and Nannie Lou Hamer Morgan, in Greenville, Mississippi. He attended Greenville High School, and The University of Mississippi.Quinby graduated from Delta State University, where he earned his Master’s Degree and then began working and coaching at Holmes Community College in 1968 and later retired in 2000. After retirement, he moved to Blanche, Tennessee until moving back to Starkville, Mississippi. Quinby attended Blanche Methodist Church while in Tennessee and was a member of Durant Methodist Church.

Quinby is survived by his wife, Rebecca Derrick Morgan; sons and daughters-in-law, Lew Morgan, Aaron (Shannon) Morgan, and Hamer (Stephanie) Morgan; granddaughters, Avery, Sidney Owens, Kate, and Quin; and step-granddaughter, Taylor Whitehead; sister, Nan Rushing (Johnny); sister-in-law, Sue Morgan; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nannie Lou and Starkey Collins Morgan, brothers, William Earl Morgan, Starkey Morgan, and Joe Morgan.

Honorary pallbearers are former players, coaches, and employees of Holmes Community College.
