Joe C. Hanson, 74, of Kosciusko, passed away Monday, November 21, 2022, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Friday, November 25, 2022, at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko, and 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 26, 2022, at First Baptist Church in Kosciusko. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Parkway Cemetery. Rev. Barry C. Corbett, Rev. Luke Gardner, and Rev. Mark Parnell will officiate.
Joe was born in Attala County on March 16, 1948, to Pender Hanson and Evelyn Rawson Hanson. He was an inspector at Superior Coach and M.R.S. as a welder. Joe and his wife, Jane, worked craft shows for 27 years and helped his mother-in-law, Kate Sandridge, at Yockanookany Bait Shop. Joe was a member of First Baptist Church Kosciusko, where he and Jane taught the three and four-year-old Sunday School class, served on the welcoming committee, and helped serve and cook for Wednesday night services. Joe was willing to help do anything he could for their church family.
Joe is survived by his wife, Jane Hanson of Kosciusko; daughters, Lisa Hanson Gray of Brandon, MS, and Brandi Hanson (Todd) Burrell of Kosciusko; brothers, John Ed (Kathy) Hanson of Atlanta, GA, and Aaron Hanson of Singleton, MS; sister, Margie (Richard) Kaldon of Brandon, MS; grandchildren, GracieKate Burrell and Bella Hanson Burrell; nephews, Stephen Hanson, Austin Hanson, Joseph Hanson; and niece, Dana Walker.
His parents, Pender Hanson and Evelyn Rawson Hanson, preceded him in death.
Serving as pallbearers are Cooter Cockroft, Butch Gilbert, Terry McClellan, Jackie Burkett, Charlie Joe Clanton, Stephen Hanson, Austin Hanson, Joseph Hanson, Bobby Taylor, Ricky Culpepper, Paul Powers, Jonathan Powers, Glenn Corr, Frank Montague, Dr. Don Weaver, and William Jones.
