James Thomas Taylor, 90, of Ethel, Mississippi passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Attala Nursing Home with his family around him. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., December 18, 2025, and 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 19, 2025, at Jordan Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 19, 2025, at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Carson Ridge Cemetery. Rev. Shannon Pennington will officiate the services.
James was born on December 6, 1935, to James Prevat Taylor and Ethel Blakley in Mississippi. He retired from Deviney Construction and was a lifelong mechanic. He and his wife, Shirley, were avid collectors of vintage items. He and his wife, Shirley, were avid collectors of vintage items.
James is survived by his son, James E. (Shelia) Taylor; daughters, Deborah Ray, Carolyn (Johnny) Clark, and Lisa (David) Odom; grandchildren, Holly Ray, Brad Taylor, Brian Taylor, Casey Tindoll, Haley Tindoll, Zack Clark, Derek Odom, and Austin Odom; 24 great-grandchildren; brothers, William “Bill” Taylor, Bob Taylor, and Jack Taylor; sisters, Betty Ellington and Mary Ethel Boyles; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Prevat Taylor and Ethel Blakley; wife, Shirley Bain Taylor; 6 siblings, Ola Pearl Carmichael, Earl Wayne Taylor, Charles Taylor, Jimmy Ray Taylor, Cecil Taylor, and Marvin Taylor; grandson, Cody Clark and great-granddaughter, Ana Claire Taylor.
