Doris "Little Granny Dean" Dean

Doris “Little Granny Dean” Buford Dean, 101, of Kosciusko, Mississippi, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at her residence with her family. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 14, 2026, at Jordan Funeral Home and 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Williamsville Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Williamsville Baptist Church with burial to follow at Brooks Dean Cemetery. Rev. Jeremy Tillman will officiate the services.

Doris was born on December 13, 1924, to Thomas Irvin Buford and Plummie Crowell Buford in Starkville, Mississippi. She married Hal Clark Dean, Sr. and they raised their 5 children in Kosciusko Community. Doris was employed at Lenoards Department Store for 38 years. She met many people while helping them as a salesclerk. Doris was a faithful member at Williamsville Baptist Church for almost 80 years.

Doris is survived by her sons, Hal Dean, Jr. (Mary) of Kosciusko, Mississippi and Tony Ray Dean (Carla) of Florence, Mississippi; daughters, Doris Faye Dean Johnson (A.J.) of Kosciusko, Mississippi and Diane Dean “Dinky” Cook (John) of Brandon, Mississippi; sister, Sarah Allbritton of Raymond, Mississippi; sister-in-law, Shirley Buford of Byram, Mississippi; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Irvin Buford and Plummie Crowell Bruford, husband, Hal Clark Dean, Sr. son, James Wayne Dean (Infant), grandsons, Jeffery Scott Dean and Thomas Clark Dean, granddaughter, Cindy Johnson, brothers, Doyle Buford and Howard Buford, sisters, Jane Johnson, Mary Roberts, and Margie Atchison.

Serving as pallbearers are Michael Dean, John Clark Cook, Chris Dean, Richard Dean, James Dean, and Bradley Bianca. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Dena Wilcox, Sherri Cook, Missy Johnson, Carman Price, and Sabrina Teasley.
