Dolos Valdez King, Kosciusko
Dolos "Val" King passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026, in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Born in Kosciusko, Mississippi, Val grew up on a farm with her beloved parents and four brothers. Over the years, many memorable family gatherings took place at the farm, with delicious home-cooked meals, walks in the woods, and storytelling and laughter on the front porch.
Val and husband Joe King moved with their three children to Glasgow in 1966. There, she developed many lifelong friendships and enjoyed playing bridge, birdwatching, and reading. She was an active and dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church. She worked at Pedigo-Lessenberry Insurance Agency until she retired. Val eventually moved back to Kosciusko where she reconnected with family and friends. She loved working in the yard with her flowers and listening to birds. She was a member of the Redbud Springs Cornerstone Church.
Val was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Allee (Wooten) Sanders, and her late husband, Joe King, and late husband, Paul Jenkins, and mourned the loss of her son-in-law Richard "Ricky" Gray.
She is survived by her daughters Karen (Jenkins) Gray and Carol Hirschler (David), and her son Tracy King (Janet). Her beloved grandchildren include Adam Gray (Tysone), Sutton Hirschler (Laura), Canon Hirschler (Kameron), Miles King, and Jason King. Her loving great-grandchildren are Brailen Gray, Brooklynne Dunson, and Emory Kramer. Val's brothers Warren (the late Rynnie), Billy (Patricia), Gene (Barbara), and Mike (Laura) Sanders and many nieces and nephews survive her as well.
