Clyde Anderson Doty Sr., also known as “Andy”, 88, of McCool, Mississippi, passed away with his loving wife beside him on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

Andy was born on October 26, 1937, in Attala County Mississippi, to Lema Burns Doty and Russell Clyde Doty. He served in the United States Air Force for 2 years. He married his high school sweetheart, Rose Ann Simmons Doty on January 21, 1958. When his father died, as the oldest son, he came home from the Air Force to help support his mother with the children remaining at home. He and his wife later moved to the coast where he started as an apprentice at Ingalls Shipbuilding. When he retired from there 20 years later, he was a Supervisor over 3 departments of nuclear submarines. They moved back to McCool MS, and he received a degree from Mississippi State. When the vo tech school opened, he taught machine shop for 17 years. Then, he worked at French Camp Academy in maintenance for 18 years. While there, he built the metal horse arena fence and the metal stairs to the dorms.

Clyde loved gospel music and served as Music Director at several churches through the years as well as a Sunday School teacher.

He was an extremely creative and charismatic person who never met a stranger and would help out wherever the need may be. He was a devoted and loving father of 4 children, 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandsons. He was a loyal and affectionate husband to his wife, the love of his life, for more than 68 years.

Clyde is survived by his wife, Rose Ann Simmons Doty, his children, Clyde A. Doty Jr. (Buster), Reagan Doty Pope (Curtis Pope), Lissa Doty Fancher (James Fancher) and Annice Doty Propst (Roger Propst), his grandchildren, who knew him as Big Daddy, Curt Pope (Nevaeh), Abby Atchley (Nick), Jade Smitherman (Tony) and Erica Riser (John Carl), Jessica Pope his great grandchildren, Aiden, Austin, Chip, Emerie Dahl (James), Laya Bryan (Walker) Dylan and great grandsons Waylon and Garrett.

He will be remembered for his good-natured personality, sense of humor and storytelling, his love for his family and the Lord and his incredible ability to think of and create anything. Clyde’s presence will be greatly missed, but because of Jesus, we will see him again!

A private family service was held, and burial was at Parkway Cemetery, Kosciusko, Mississippi.
