Charlie May, 75, of Simpson Community of Choctaw County passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at his residence. Visitation is 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 10, 2023, at New Haven Baptist Church. Graveside services are at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 10, 2023, at the New Haven Cemetery in Choctaw County. Rev. Derek May is officiating.
Charles was born June 1, 1948, to Roland May and Annie Pilcher May in the Berea community in Choctaw County. He was a welder for 40 years in the pipeline industry. Charlie was a member of New Haven Baptist Church and the adult men’s class. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Charlie loved working in his garden and sharing his crops with family and friends.
Charlie is survived by his son, J.C. May of Weir, Mississippi; daughter, Tammie May (Glenn) Porter of Kosciusko, Mississippi; sisters, Linda Dees of Canton, Mississippi, and Mildred Hunt of Texas; grandchildren, Caleb Cain, Ethan (Katelyn) Porter, Alli (Chancy) Rogers, Gracie May, and Tallon May and great-grandchildren, Gabe Cain, JamesMichael Cain, Abel Cain, Layla Rogers, Riggs Johnson, Nolan Rogers, and Garrett Porter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland May and Annie Pilcher May; wife Charlotte Newlin May; and six siblings.
Serving as pallbearers are Caleb Cain, Ethan Porter, Gabe Cain, Quinton Howard, Nolan McIntire, and James Cain.
