Carol Jean Barrett

Carol Jean W. Barrett, 79, of Ethel, Mississippi, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Vaiden Community Living Center in Vaiden, Mississippi. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Jordan Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Carson Ridge Cemetery. Rev. Donald Self will officiate.

Carol was born on August 19, 1946, to Herbert and Bessie Yates Wheeless in Mississippi. She was a homemaker and loved taking care of her wonderful family while she was able to. Carol was a member of Second Baptist Church.

Carol is survived by her son, Steve Barrett; daughters, Stephanie Ornsby and Susanne Steed; brother, Ralph Wheeless; grandchildren, Hanah Reeder, Brandon Barrett, Bradly Barrett, Braxton Barrett, Cody Ornsby, Autumn Ornsby, Amber Palmertree, Amy Steed, and Steven Steed; and one great-grandchildren, Raylen Reeder, Eli Ornsby, Laikynn Ornsby, Brynleigh Ornsby, and Makenzie Palmertree.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Bessie Yates Wheeless, her husband, Jerry Barrett, son-in-law, Wayne Ornsby, sister, Wilma Minshew, and brothers, Waylon and Grady Wheeless.

Serving as pallbearers are Bradley Barrett, Steven Steed, Allen Burkes, Larry Wheeless, Bucky Wheeless, Cody Ornsby, and Justin Reeder. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Mike Barrett, Jeff Barrett, Branden Barrett, Braxton Barrett, and Austin Palmertree.
