Billy Nunn

Billy Nunn, 85, of McCool, Mississippi, a proud Vietnam Veteran, devoted family man, and a skilled Boilermaker/Welder for 45 years, passed away at his home on May 24, 2026.

His kind heart, gentle love, cantankerous spirit, and sweet nature will have a long-lasting impact on all of those who knew him. He served his country with courage and honor in the US Navy from 1960-1966.

He is survived by his son Billy Shurden Nunn (Maricia), daughter Carmelita Charwaynne Nunn Canterberry (Joe), 2 granddaughters: Hannah Nicole Nunn Crittenden (David) and Alyson Grace Nunn, and 1 great-grandson Wyatt Andrew Crittenden, 4 sisters: Margaret Burchfield, Janice Lively, Judy James, and Martha Eastman. Also, many nieces and nephews.

Billy is proceeded in death by his wife of 50 years, Vonnita Shurden Nunn, his parents: Vernon and Mozelle Nunn, and his 2 brothers: Sammy and James Nunn.

He was a member of McCool Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Jonathon Nunn, Ricky McKinley, Dale Hunt, Tim Hunt, DJ Fisher, and David Crittenden. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Canterberry, Jimmy Nunn, Glenn Deason, and Doug Fisher.

Funeral services are at 2 PM on Friday, May 29, 2026, at McCool Baptist Church, with burial to follow at McCool Cemetery. Visitation is from 1 PM until 2 PM at McCool Baptist Church
