Audean Gelston

Audean Gelston, 95, of Kosciusko, Mississippi, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Baptist-Attala Hospital. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Unity Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 2:00 p.m., at Unity Baptist Church, with burial at Unity Cemetery. Rev. Gene Richardson and Rev. Danny Townsend will officiate the services.

Audean was born on January 4, 1930. She was an active member of Unity Baptist Church, where she played the piano for 60+ years, a Sunday School Teacher, a Vacation Bible School teacher, and many other roles throughout her time there. While living at The Willows for the past three years, she continued to play the piano every day during their devotion time! Audean was a great cook - everyone loved her angel biscuits, fried apple pies, and all kinds of sweet desserts! She was a great seamstress - sewing for her granddaughters, doll clothes, and quilting were some of her favorites. Most recently, she had made many bookmarks and embrodiery pillowcases for gifts to give others. She loved getting to spend time with her family, loved the Lord, and reading her Bible.

Audean is survived by her daughter, Linda Canty (Rick); granddaughters, Tamara Canty and Jennifer Landrum (Nathan); great-grandchildren, Garrison Landrum, Emma Landrum, Annie Grace Landrum; and lots of very special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Gelston.

Serving as pallbearers are Nathan Landrum, Garrison Landrum, Jimmy Rone, John Lewis, Jr., Jerry Gelston, and Daryl Johnson. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Frank Montague, Buddy Ramage, Jimmy Bruce, Dewayne Cade, Kirby Pender, and Hank Johnson.
