Allen Dorsey

Allen Wright Dorsey of Kosciusko, MS, was born December 23, 1940, to James and Mary Elizabeth (Lizzie) Dorsey in the Marydell community of Leake County. He exchanged his life here on earth for his Heavenly Home on July 27, 2026. Allen leaves his loving wife of 64 years, Charlotte Hunt Dorsey, daughter Pamela Dorsey Breazeale, and twin grandsons William Paxton and Wesley Payton Breazeale of Kosciusko. He also leaves two sisters, Betty Dorsey and Jane Dorsey of Carthage, MS, brother Tim Dorsey (Teresia) of Conchetta, MS, and a very special little neighbor, Ella Grace Evans. Allen was preceded in death by his son, James Allen Dorsey, son-in-law Wes Breazeale, both of Kosciusko, MS, his parents, James and Lizzie Dorsey of Carthage, MS, brother Bobby Dorsey and his wife Allene of McCool, MS, and his nephew Michael Keith Dorsey, also of McCool.

Services will be at Jordan Funeral Home on Thursday, July 30,2026, at 1p.m. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Parkway Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ashley Dorsey, Brock Dorsey, Justin Kirkman, Rodney Smith, Chris Stevenson, and Kendall Williamson.

Allen made Jesus Lord of his life at an early age at Bethel Baptist Church in Leake County. He joined Williamsville Baptist Church when his family moved to Kosciusko. He served over the years as a deacon and was a member of the men's Sunday School class led by Jimmy Williamson. When he was no longer physically able to attend church, the highlight of his Sunday was being able to join in remotely with his class. He would be welcomed by Jimmy's warm and faithful voice asking, “Is that you Brother Allen?"

His career with MS Valley Gas took him to Jackson, the MS Delta, and finally brought him to Kosciusko where he retired with 40 plus years of service. He leaves many close friends from those years.

Allen loved life and had a passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, and especially crappie fishing. knew the Ross Barnett Reservoir like the back of his hand and spent many peaceful hours on its waters. His cousin Ashley and nephew Michael were among some of his favorite fishing buddies. He could hardly wait until Paxton and Payton were old enough to go out in the boat with him. He and Charlotte spent many wonderful years following retirement at Goshen Springs camping, fishing, and enjoying life with family and friends. He will be greatly missed, but we are so blessed to know that he is healed and that we will see him again.
