Jessie M. Ramage Hesterville Community Jessie M. Ramage, 88, passed away Monday, November 21, 2016 at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 22 at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 23 in the Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the North Union Cemetery. Rev. Shane Thrash will officiate. She loved Jesus Christ and worked diligently for his cause and was honored with Working Servant at Sandhill Baptist Church. She was a member of Sandhill Baptist Church where she served in various capacities as a Vacation Bible School teacher, a director of the WMU, Sunday school teacher, and a former secretary of the church. She was a member of the Carmack Community Club and Ladies Club. She was honored with Modern Woodman Community Service award, and the Star Herald Women of the Year in 1998. She was a sewing Supervising Instructor for the State of Mississippi at Allied Enterprises. She had volunteered for Helping Hands Ministry. She is a member of the Hesterville Chapter #400 Order of the Eastern Star, P.M. She was known as Moma to her children and Mema to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also thought of as Aunt Jessie by many. Survivors include her son, Rev. Neal (Christine) Ramage of Mooreville, MS; daughters, Brenda (Ralph) Self of Hesterville and Peggy (Dr. Dave) Gilliland of Tupelo, MS; grandchildren, Christy (Ronnie) Smith, Misty (Edward) Moore, David (Ashley) Gilliland, Emily (Scott) Davis, and Dr. Ben (Elena) Gilliland; great-grandchildren, Sterling Smith, Bradley Moore, Caitlyn Moore, Will Davis, Parker Davis, Marian Caroline Gilliland and Hattie Rose Gilliland; two sisters, Janie Carpenter and Eloise Hurta, both of Kosciusko; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd H. Ramage; parents, Frank James and Ramie Flynn Melcher; siblings, Richard Melcher, Freddie Melcher, Louise Lawrence, Mildred Burden, Jimmie Nell McCool, Betty Simmons, and Estelle Black.
