Dr. David F. Sistrunk Kosciusko Dr. David F. Sistrunk, 68, passed away Monday, March 27, 2017 at his home in Kosciusko from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, March 30 at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Friday at Kosciusko First United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Parkway Cemetery. Dr. Scott Wright will officiate. He was a member of the Kosciusko First United Methodist Church and a former member of the Kosciusko Rotary Club. He was a member of the Mississippi State Board of Education from 2005-2009 and a member of the Mississippi Association of School Superintendents. He started as a teacher and coach at Oak Hill Academy at West Point. He was a principal in Luxora, AR and Pontotoc, MS. He was Superintendent of Schools at Violet Hill, AR and Kosciusko, MS. He graduated Mississippi State University where he attained a Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree and his Doctorate of Education. He was an avid outdoorsman, artist, knife maker, and a HUGE MSU fan. Survivors include his wife, Marianna B. Sistrunk of Kosciusko; sons, Robin L. (Christy) Mason of San Antonio, TX, David L. (Kim) Sistrunk of Guntown, MS, and Shannon C. (Dana B.) Sistrunk of Saltillo, MS; daughter, Loyanna M (Randy) Everett of Cabot, AR; grandchildren, Thomas Chandler Mason, Christian Andrew Mason, Caroline Grace Mason, Leslie Miner Sistrunk, Indiana Green Sistrunk, Mary Elisabeth Sistrunk, Sara Layne Sistrunk, Anna Kay Everett, and Emma Grace Everett; one great-grandson, Luke Thomas Mason; brothers, Carlos (Nancy) Sistrunk and Walter (Carolyn) Sistrunk, both of Starkville; sisters, Kathryn Rimer of Moss Point, MS and Brenda (Cam) Landry of Toronto, Canada; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Walter E. Sistrunk and Marian Godwin Sistrunk; and his brother, Dr. Michael E. Sistrunk. Pallbearers are Conwell Duke, Stevie Overstreet, Christopher Hill, Dr. Charles Harrison, Dr. Tony McGee, and Mike Woffard. Honorary pallbearers are Presley Tate, Robert Simpson, Jim Wilkerson, Charles Hull, Dewayne Cade, Kevin Pullen, Ty McGee, Kenny Dungan, Mina Lightsey, Billy Wenzel, Jonathan Carnes, Chester McGee, and the members of the Tom Wasson's "The Tuesday Sitters" Coffee Club.
